The following modules are optional and can be turned on or off in hc.conf:

automod - auto moderation (speech and name censoring, anti entrance killing, ...)
chat - custom say tag and colour
clock - displays the current time in the hud
maps - map voting
messaging - instant and offline messaging
moderation - manual moderation (slap, kick, ban, ...)
playerattribs - player attributes (helmets)
playerstats - player statistics
teambalance - team balancing

When I open a file, all code is on a single line!

It's because the files have UNIX line endings and you are using Notepad. Use Wordpad instead or download Notepad++.

Adding maps to map vote menu

Open sys/lua/hc/hc.conf in a text editor. Look for hc.MAP_LIST. Add new maps like this:

Adding new attributes (hats)

Save attributes as png files in gfx/hc/attribs. Then open sys/lua/hc/modules/playerattribs.lua in a text editor. Look for hc.playerattribs.ATTRIBUTES. Here you can add the new attributes. Type the name you want in the menu on the left hand side and the filename on the right hand side, like this (note that attribute names with spaces must be enclosed in [""]):
Then open sys/servertransfer.lst in a text editor. Add the path to the png file here. This is necessary for other players to be able to see the new attributes.

Adding new say commands

Here is an example of how to add a new moderation command. Open sys/lua/hc/modules/moderation.lua in a text editor. Look for the function hc.moderation.init(). Add this line to that function (before end):
This adds a new say command, !kick. Players that are moderator level 1 or higher will be able to use it. When a player triggers it, the function hc.moderation.kick_say_command will be invoked. Now add that function below the init function (after end):
hc.exec will parse the command and log it. Now you can test the command by saying (if you are authorized):
