If you want actual "server computer", it does not need to be powerful. You'll propably get a decent server comp with 200-500 dollars.

If you meant you want someone to host a server for you, Prentiss Tigers sells servers

You wnat to buy a server? Well Banaan sells them from servers.cs2d.nl for a decent price, I think that you should find that satisfactory.

If you are looking into buying a server as in buying an actual server for say, a LAN game, you would want to take a look at any IBM machines, as they are definately the best in the business. I bought a Dual proccessor Xeon with 5 gig's of RAM and a decent 2 TB harddrive server for about... R24000 which would be roughly 2400 Euros or 8000US$ ( I cannot guarentee that these prices are 100% correct, kinda just figured in my head quickly ). I rent that out to LAN game hosts for osme extra cash sometimes, it wsa an investment that paid out =D

You actually have an IBM server running at home? That's soo awesome! But isn't the sound of a constantly running computer extremely irritating?

But if you only want to use it for LAN CS2D servers I wouldn't advise buying one of those -> really overpowered

I don't have it running all the time, I only use it for compiling large C projects, serving LANs and acting as a 'target' server for practising my trade

But the reason why i would suggest that specific machine is because it will NEVER lag ( on the machine side, the actual connection would be the only thing that would make the server lag ).

And i don't only use it for CS2D LANs, btw. This particular server has done CS, CSS, CoD: MW2, Team Fortress 2, some really random cowboy mod of CS and quite a few other games. It is a very reliable machine ( only problem is that a kittne i was fostering pissed on it and it now stinks really badly ).

EDIT: And no it is pretty dang quite even when the hood is popped and you're hotswopping SATA disks.

Wow, I didn't know people actually take this seriously. But, what really is the benefit of having your own server except, aiding your clan, group ect. Some people say you can make money off it... true..?

Yeah you can make money with pretty much everything on the internet - I could open paint, draw some ugly black lines on a black background and sell it! (Yes, you can seriously make a lot of money with MS paint )

Anyways, it is possible to earn some money with CS2D, but not a lot. I think most of the people earning money with it don't even get enough to pay the server from.
