Hi guys, so I have Huawei P9 lite. I know it's not the best option, but anyway, in specs it claims to have 2gb of ram and 16 gb of internal storage. However when i use app switcher or whatever it's called it shows only about 750-800 mb of free ram space (with no apps running) and when i go to „about phone” section and internal storage it also shows like 8.00/10.00 gb used, meaning that storage has only 10, not 16 gigs. So main question is, where my ram and storage space goes? Is it bloatware that eats it or what? (I'm new to huawei ) Thank you for answers.

Could be bloatware, but it's most definitely the Android OS itself. I have 4 GB RAM on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but at all times at least 40% is used by Android. I also see that 7.14 GB is used by Android as storage.

This is not an "issue" you can easily fix without rooting the phone, removing bloatware or installing a different OS. Buy a new phone if it's too slow.

Some internal storage space is always reserved for the system (a different partition, there's no way you can access it without a repartition). On my phone 10GB out of 64 are reserved.

800mb RAM is plenty for Android, don't worry. @user rokeliuxas: already mentioned it: when Android needs more RAM, it will clear cache and maybe kill unnecessary background apps. Also, as far as I know some memory is always reserved for the GPU.
If you're going to buy a SDCard, go for at least 32GB so you can use your phone as a USB stick to transfer files

I don't know how much bloatware comes with huawie but i know samsung has a lot of it so i had to root all my previous phones to get rid of it , now i got a nexus 5x and it's much better.

if you see a lot of unneeded apps that you're not using and you can't uninstall them then go for it

What @user Bowlinghead probably meant was the difference between Gibibytes and Gigabytes. One of them uses the factor 1024 for each step, the other the factor 1000. That's why a lot of space is lost.

@user R4z3R: I don't know for sure, probably not. I do not think uninstalling apps/bloatware will free up internal storage space.

Your operating system needs that space. You can (of course) free it to make it available, but then you don't have any operating system anymore.

You could potentially install a smaller OS with less requirements to free up some space. But it would be so minor and not worth the trouble.

Yeah, this is the way android works, it uses the RAM to its maximum extent to speed the things up and will only free it when it's really really needed (at least from what I know and experienced). Unless you're experiencing slowness or app crashes you should not worry too much about it.

Say you open the camera app and then stop using it. Even though you cleared it from the recent app panel, there's some remains of the app that will stay in the memory (so that when you launch it again, it loads faster).

You should also consider that Huawei's android OS modification is quite heavy and bundles tons of effects, custom resources and huawei apps. While rooting may make you able to reduce this bloatware, it won't make your system near as clean as stock android, for example. Your best choice would be to install a custom ROM focused on performance but, being a recent huawei chip, you're very unlikely to find any good, or noticeably better custom ROMs out there.
