EmoCosin:In 2023,i found an server in Singapore can got lower ping, when i in GuangDong(30-40ping).So i should said that people probably can hold an competition in asia area.In the past few years, based on the numbers of players, some servers owner try to set beginneer server and rank server to distinguish players but no one wants to play with bots.In recent years, computer are getting cheaper and cheaper, only need below 2500RMB then you can get an computer ,which play cs2 above 200fps,no one wants to play this old game i should say. It is very disappointing...In the years following the COVID period there was at least one server where a decent number of players were online and the game was still playable. Now there is nothing. have never seen such a level of inactivity before.
The loyal players from the community where I was, like me, have since grown up, started families, and had children were the ones who kept the game alive for many years. But now, even that is gone..
Ping me up on Steam (see Profile) if the game becomes active again at some point in case anyone is still reading this!!
This game really needs publicity, but how do we reach all those people? The game is free and funded advertising isn't, donations, cosmetics?
I have a feeling the game needs an update, but not just any update; it needs one that somehow helps gain users in the healthiest way possible.
This game still has a lot of potential, but I think the product is being offered in the wrong way.
I have a lot of faith in this game, in the developers and its community. I feel we can return to the golden era, but I think the game needs to adapt to modern times—a rework, but not too invasive.
guys, you really need to leave things go
cs2d was amazing for its time, now is outdated, needs a new face and a lot of time for uncertainty on its payout
I do think DC is capable of creating a successful game for todays market, he has been ahead of his time before, it's just natural, but HIS attention is elsewhere, let the guy enjoy himself and just be thankful he created a game that gave us a TON of FREE enjoyment.
The other way around is make it yourself, stop pretending other people to do what you can't, learn it and do it yourself if you got the time and resources.
However, to be honest, there are still a few of us—myself included—who still remember the game and the intense matches we used to have. Clan wars, tournaments, 1v1s, zombie mode... it was something special. Many of us might not have the same free time anymore; we have other hobbies and other games to play, but I believe that if we spread the word and organize monthly sessions, it could work. We could even set up a Discord server for this.
It would be great if the game could eventually be passed on to someone interested in modernizing or updating it, rather than letting this memory die permanently. With AI today, there are so many ways to revitalize a game, optimize development, or even create a sort of 'remastered' version. Unfortunately, I don't have game development knowledge, but I just don't want to see this game stay in its current state.
OR would it be known for it's customization and creativity (similarly to Valve's Counter Strike: Source)
OR capitalize on the nostalgia of the game and it's coding/scripting inventiveness? (Closest comparison being CS 1.6?
There are problems with all three options - the least practical would be the first, as the market is already over-saturated with such categories of games.
The second proposal is problematic in that the fanbase would never grow large as it has no scene to stand out in, but it would remain stable and at a medium level
The third proposal would have made sense longer ago... we must account for the fact that many of CS2DS' veterans are now fully grown up, perhaps even middle aged adults... People who participated in the game even from the 2010's would be 15 years older (or 16, but with nuances) which would make them about... 30 years old. At that stage of life you are not interested in decadent childhood projects anymore.
But I'd most likely pick the third option anyway - I believe some streamers would be willing to take up on the game or at least showcase it the next time they go live (Notably, anomaly, for he has showcased the game twice in his series "FREE TO PLAY "COUNTER-STRIKE" GAMES".
Though I am doubtful the community will coordinate so well - I have a personal dislike for some of the members and moderation team and unmatching goals might block any chance of inventing something.
However I still believe that the game could be revived - at least minimally. Talking about the game on online platforms would still bring some traction, and the gold rush nostalgia bait would catch some people. Not Gen Z or alpha, of course. They'll be eyeing at other projects...
But why, CS2D is already pretty good game, new updates or even new game the same style won't change anything, sorry xx 😞
Personally, I think the game is still as fun as ever. It's just that the player base is too scattered. The community is all over the place. Almost all the new players (yes there are new players somehow) are playing de_dust, which gets boring eventually. The "Quick Play" button is too fixated on standard modes, which is not making it any easier.
