More and more people (actually, 13-19-year-olds) are becoming atheists or satanists. As the people of that age are prone to try to look different (looking different and being different are two different things; although we all are unique, some people are way different from the others; the other people just try to look different; boy, that's a lot of "different's") I believe that that trend is followed with the intention to be shocking to the more conservative people (their parents).
Discuss.

P.S. This is coming from a deist, so it isn't bias.

I became atheist not because is a trend, but because I realized that (in my opinion) there is no logic at believing in god, still I respect other people beliefs. Never seen a satanist in my country.

Nothing to discuss about. There are lots of kids who think they are atheists because it is cool and then there are people who simply do no believe. Of course you get two main types of atheists: the proud, self-declared ones and the ones who don't really give a fuck (passive atheists). Satanism is a joke as far as I know, please prove me wrong.

Don't get satanists. Looks like they want to believe something but uh.. I don't know. Atheism is ok as long as you ain't doing it for being cool for some kind of friend groups.

Just by reading the title I could instantly guess who made it.

I'm an atheist as long as I can remember to have intelligence to even know what is religion, because when I was young my parents constantly used all those "Jesus" and "that's a sin" religious expressions and I also used them without even know what the hell I was talking about. Same for praying and stuff, it was all their habit and although I didn't know what it was, I imitate them, just like any other child. They probably did the same with their parents and on and on if you go back in time. I don't remember when I exactly realized what was religion and that I was doing it all that time without knowing other choices, but what I can confirm is that it was over 6 years ago.
I started seeing much more rational explanations to what my parents used to say it was by God or something like that, and only 1 or 2 years after that I discovered this word, "atheism". It completely described how I was feeling.
I told my parents and they didn't know what to say, but in the end they didn't care because they know they were forced by their own parents to believe in God and everything surrounding Christianity and weren't given a choice to see the world by other views.
As time passed, they too started to realise that religion is nothing more than something other people shove down your throats (lots of sexual innuendo jokes could be made with this and priests) when you're so young and don't know what it is like to not have religion (or don't know what religion is at all).
I had a extremely tiring day, so I may have not written everything clearly, but I think it's better to stop it as I could go on and on, but people with a certain degree of intelligence will get my point as it is currently written.

Only because school teaches people about evolution then leading them to being Atheist.
Really? Do you want school to only teach us about religion?

Personally I'm a atheist. Due to that I lack a belief in God or Gods, so it's quite easy to say and easy to understand. I do have friends who do believe in Christianity or Islam and so forth, so I have no problem with that. I also hope that any individuals beliefs and non-beliefs should be respected. Since if a person does not believe in God that doesn't mean you cannot believe in a God. That's how it is, that's life. You make a choice to believe in a God or you don't decide to believe in a God. There are still certain people trying to get individuals not to believe in a God and vice versa which is incredibly unnecessary to complain about in my opinion. We need to let people believe what they want. That's all I'm saying.

In middle school, I got baptized because I lived in Oklahoma and it was the social norm there to be christian. When I got to high school, I left the church because, frankly, it was boring and the new norm favors those who are more daring and liberal, basically the stereotypical cool guy. I guess I just didn't have the conviction. Will I still be swayed by pressure from society? Definitely yes; it's easier this way.

Atheism: Fine as long as you're not being a self-righteous douchebag seeking attention.
Satanism: Hardly meet any, but hey. Let them decided what they want to do to themselves, I suppose.
Anti-Religion: I can understand some malicious intent towards religious people in this society, since I am not religious. History is full of violence stirred by a belief such as religion. And greed, power, and all that other crap.
But there are some exceptions.
Plain and simple, let people believe what they want to believe. Don't judge, and force it on others.
Don't be a self-centered narcissistic.

I'm atheist simply because I see no reason to believe in god. What I hate is when people think I have no moral code because I'm an atheist. I have a moral code because I want to be a good person not because I want to impress/am scared of god.
